Setup
A little section to get you started.
Step 1
Extract the GoatDVR zip into a folder. You should see goatdvr.exe, header_logo.png, readme.txt, plus helper tools ffmpeg.exe and yt-dlp.exe. Those tools do the actual download and save; GoatDVR is the interface. Double-click goatdvr.exe. On first run it creates recorder_config.json in the same folder. You can edit that later in Notepad.
Step 2
Put ffmpeg.exe and yt-dlp.exe in a folder (for example C:\ffmpeg) and add that folder to your Windows PATH: Search for environment variables Open Edit environment variables for your account (or system) Edit Path → New → enter C:\ffmpeg OK out and restart GoatDVR
Step 3
Restart GoatDVR. By default it saves into the folder you launched it from (save_directory in config). Guests get 30 minutes per session; close and reopen for another guest session. To register: License → Register Software (needs internet). No form to fill out — the app registers a machine key and receives the weekly 3,000-token allotment.
